Accountability and light

In a lot of stories, light is often associated with good deeds, and bad deeds are often associated with darkness. Ever wonder why? Perhaps because we all have the innate ability to tell right from wrong and good from bad, and truth be told, everyone likes to look good – even bad people want to be seen as good (that sounds funny, but it’s true).

So when we say accountability cannot work in darkness, it is because it involves being transparent; and literally speaking, you can only tell if something is transparent when there is light. So if someone is keeping you in the dark about something, or not carrying you along as they ought to, then they are not being transparent about their actions and they do not have a sense of accountability.

This will not bode well for any relationship, whether professional, or personal.
Let us strive to be plain and open in our dealings, keeping the concerned parties in the loop – be they family, friends, colleagues, or community members. We will all be the better for it.

Best Wishes
